How to live life!

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 80 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

As he manoeuvred his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.

I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'

'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied.

Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.

Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.
'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice;
I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life.

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!

Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank.
I am still depositing.

'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Home made Laundry detergent and Lotion!

Here are some homemade detergent reciepes and also one for hand lotion. I  recieved this from my mother in law she says she can notice after one that hre clothes are softer. Also say black stuff on top of the water in the washer the dirt and junk it pulld from your clothes what store bought detergents dont do.

Laundry Soap

This is a low sudsing soap.  Great for front loading washers.
Don't be fooled by the low sudsing and think you need more soap!

1/2 Cup "20 Mule Team Borax"
1/2 Cup "Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda"
1/3 bar Fells Naptha Soap

Grate 1/3 bar of Fells Naptha into 6 cups very hot water and stir until "melted".

Pour 4 cups hot water into a pail or other 2 gallon or larger size container
add washing soda and borax.....stir until dissolved

add soap/water mixture and stir lightly

Add 1 gallon plus 6 cups hot water and stir

Let mixture sit 24 hours (until jelled)  Do not stir or disturb

I break up the jelled soap with my hands and put it in smaller containers.

This makes 2 gallons............use 1/2 cup per load, more or less.

I sometimes spread soap on stains to "pre-treat".

Powdered Laundry Detergent

1 Cup grated Fels Naptha Soap                             or 6 bars Fels Naptha soap
1/2 cup washing soda                                               3 cups washing soda
1/2 cup 20 mule team borax                                      3 cups borax

Mix and store in airtight container............use 1 Tbsp for small load, 2 Tbsps. for medium load, and 3 Tbsps. for large load

Tip:  The above recipes will not make suds in your washer so don't be alarmed.  Fels Naptha is a pur soap and makes little or no suds.  You will also notice the need to either reduce your laundry softener or eliminate it

Moisturizing Lotion----great for skin disorders (psoriasis, etc. and those "hard heels")

3 ozs. (1/3 cup) Vaseline
15 - 22 ozs Johnson's Baby Lotion
4 ozs Vitamine E Skin Care Cream
OPTIONAL-----1 oz Vitamine E Oil, Almond Oil, or other oil

Mix well with electric mixer and put in smaller containers

I ALWAYS double the recipe.

my cloth diapering adventure has started!

I am very excited to have started our family's cloth diaper adventure! Brielle is 5weeks old today! we have been doing cloth diapers now for approx. 2weeks! I am loving every min of it! I always had thought about cloth diapering but never had the opportunity to start it due to living in an appartment ect. Now I get the chance to experience cloth diapering, organic home made baby food, breastfeeding, gardening, ect. I am thrilled for summer to come around! I will be one busy stay at home mom! I cannot express how amazling helpful it was to have a friend/neighbor show me the ropes to cloth diapers! I had done research online but speaking to her was very helpful. She definetly is someone to admire and look up to she has twins she uses cloth diapers on! I think as long as we have our routine cloth diapers with Brielle will go well. We also use cloth wipes and homemade cloth solution. I cant believe how easy it is to make things just as easy as going to the store and buying them!!! I will be posting reciepes, life updates, reviews, ect on my blog I hope to post atleast once a week. Since being a stay at home mom to 3 is busy busy busy!

Eric and I got married in Las Vegas which was a suprise to everyone since we kept it a secret. I have 2 children from a previous relationship Jared 4yrs old & Justin 2 1/2yrs old. Eric and I welcomed our daughter to our family Dec 22 2010 her name is Brielle! I am a stay at home wife and mom. I am just getting into cloth diapers! I am a breastfeeding, cloth diaper, and baby food making mom! Brielle is actually my first child I have to opportunity to breastfeed. When I was 37weeks 2days pregnant with Jared I had to have an emergency induction because I had developed Preclamsia and the doctor said my eyes and liver had started to swell due to my having preclamsia I was scared my family wasn't back from going to texas and mexico over christmas break. I drove myseld to Grandforks from Crookston so approx. 35mins. I was told I would be started on pitocin and anti seizure medication through my IV have my blood pressure monitored ever 15mins untill I delivered Jared. The doctor said he would try to have me have a vaginal birth but since I wasn't dialated and my cervix wasn't open that I might end up with a C-section especially since this was my first baby. My blood pressure was approx. 198/184 and I was scared. 12 hours later at 1:16am I had a healthy 6lb 19inch baby boy named Jared Matthew Lenhart.he was delivered Vaginally. I was in the hospital 3days then we go discharged and I had to see my doctor the next morning after my discharge. I went in the next morning and I had really highblood pressure and couldn't walk on my own I had edema so bad. So I was readmitted to the hospital. My son was with my parents. I ended up being started on iv fluids and anti seizure med also on some bloodpressure medication. I ended up having to stay in the hospital for almost 2weeks! On Sept 27 2008 I had Justin Hector Lenhart with no complications what so ever but a 13hour labor he was born @ 11:59pm.I didn't get the opportunity to breastfeed the boys is because I was on medication for 6months after having Jared and with Justin I was work 40hrs a week and I was able to pump for him. I was extreamely ill with nausea, vommitting, back pain, and bladder infections with Brielle Eunice Reinbold I had approx 10 iv fluids done on me and went into preterm labor with her and ended up having to have medications to stop my preterm labor. I was induced at 39weeks 3days I was in labor for 4hours Brielle was born @ 10:11am 7lbs 5oz 19inches! Eric is a farmer he is selfemployed. We live out on a farm. We have been trying to make our and our childrens lives "green"! I thought I would start a blog on our life and cloth diapers ect!
